ATTORNEYS
& COUNSELORS AT LAW
HOUSTON
- LAFAYETTE
Summary of Construction Law Practice
Since the
firm's inception, construction industry clients have been a
substantial part of our practice. At different times we have
represented developers, general contractors, subcontractors,
suppliers, architects, construction lenders, and the manufacturers of
a variety of building products.
Our
attorneys offer extensive experience dealing with complex construction
claims through mediation, arbitration or litigation. We are also able
to provide assistance with project finance and contract drafting and
negotiation, and representation in OSHA investigation and compliance
matters.
Our
attorneys also have experience representing owners, architects,
engineers, contractors, lenders, developers, material suppliers,
subcontractors and sureties in all types of construction disputes
involving litigation, arbitration and mediation. Our first aim is to
keep clients out of costly courtroom proceedings. However, if a trial
is necessary, we offer a track record of success, with experienced
litigators able to prosecute or defend lawsuits.
We will
draft or negotiate construction contracts on behalf of owners,
sureties, architect/engineers, contractors, material suppliers and
subcontractors for any project. Standard AIA (American Institute of
Architects) forms can be modified to suit your individual needs if
appropriate, or we can negotiate manuscript contracts tailored for
your project.
The
firm's construction client's range in size from large, public
companies to family owned suppliers of specialty construction
supplies. We have done work for one of Houston's largest architectural
firms, one of the nation's largest manufacturers of structural steel,
several of the Gulf Coast's most active general contractors, and a
number of small, niche subcontractors in the building trades. We have
documented construction loans for our banking clients, and we have
defended construction related claims for our insurance clients. We
believe that the depth and variety of our experience representing
construction industry clients gives us a unique ability to address the
most difficult construction related assignments.
